This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform health assessment for individuals of all ages, with emphasis on the adult, using the skills of history taking, inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation. This course focuses on normal findings and common deviation from normal of each of the major body systems. The students will be provide opportunity to practice health assessment skills in the faculty of nursing laboratories.
This course focuses on concepts relating to care of adult and geriatric populations with stable chronic and acute medical-surgical problems. Emphasis of this course is on the use of the nursing process and in developing competence in providing nursing care for individuals with specific health care needs and problems. In addition, the student is provided with an orientation to coordination of patient care.
